PROSTATE CANCER PREVENTION CAMPAIGN KICKS OFF AT PICCOLE FIGLIE HOSPITAL IN PARMA AND LAZZARO SPALLANZANI MEDICAL CENTER IN REGGIO EMILIA

On the occasion of #Movember, a month dedicated to men’s health, Piccole Figlie Hospital in Parma and Lazzaro Spallanzani Medical Center are offering a unique opportunity to prevent prostate cancer, one of the most common cancers among men. Throughout November, free PSA testing is available, an essential test for early detection of any alterations. The initiative is aimed at men 40 years of age and older with a family history of prostate cancer and men 50 to 75 years of age also without a family history. This campaign is important because in Emilia Romagna alone, prostate cancer accounts for 23 percent of all male cancer diagnoses, with about 6,000 new cases per year. Early diagnosis is crucial: thanks to screening, the 5-year survival rate exceeds89%.
